Quarantine Entertainment: Movies and Shows
Movie Friday’s on Movieclips channel (youtube)
Youtube channel, Movieclips, is partnering with Lionsgate to showcase free movies every friday on their channel. Every friday at 6pm PST or 9pm EST, you can watch movies ranging from the 80s to now. I happened to tune in the first week they did this and I can say the quality is great and you don’t have to worry about lagging. It is a great way to spend some quality time by yourself or with your family members, grab a bucket of popcorn and enjoy!
Chrome partnered up with Netflix to allow people who want to enjoy a movie-theater experience to still enjoy shows. You can schedule a time or show sync together, allowing you to pause and and play at the same time. There is also a chat room where people can chat with each other about the movie or show currently playing. *You still need a netflix account to join*
Some Good News (Youtube)
If you are tired of hearing bad news about the virus and the government and is craving for some laughs and optimism, tune in to every episode of SGN by actor john kransinski. Most popular for playing Jim in the sitcom, The Office, Krasinski produces two episodes every week to bring you some good news. He interviews celebrities and brings a delightful atmosphere for 20 minutes, to refresh your life.
HBO free-limited time binge-offering
On April 3rd, HBO announced that it will offer free 500 hr show/movie time for those who do not have a subscription and want to watch some entertainment. They are offering shows such as barry, silicon valley, the sopranos, veep, and two seasons of big little lies.
Late-night shows : Quarantine edition
Many talk show hosts such as Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy kimmel, Ellen, John oliver, and conan continue to provide daily shows to the fans from their homes. Although the format might be different, the spirit of the hosts hasn't changed, providing celeb interviews, skits, monologues, and of course music.
A new video platform launched in april, this app provides short (less than 10 min) shows starring your favorite actors. Survivor, starring Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones, and Most Dangerous Game, starring Liam Hemsworth are few of the good shows to binge through the night.
